01Overview

Running a hospitality & f&b organisation.

Fasttrade is a Malaysian software house that builds custom software and SaaS platforms, corporate websites and mobile apps for large organisations. In hospitality and F&B, that means direct ordering and loyalty platforms, outlet reporting, hotel and group websites, and Buku business software for accounts, operations and staff administration.

Malaysian F&B runs from kopitiams and hawker stalls to cafe chains, central kitchens, caterers and hotel restaurants. Halal certification through JAKIM, local council licences and food handler requirements shape how outlets operate, and owners should confirm the details with the relevant authority.

Margins depend on food cost, labour and rent, while sales swing with Ramadan, festive seasons, school holidays and payday weekends. Delivery platforms bring volume but take a commission on every order, so many groups want more direct orders. Head office also needs the same figures from every outlet, which is harder than it sounds.

02Common challenges

What we hear most often.

  1. 01

    Food cost control

Supplier price changes and wastage erode margins when recipe costs and purchases are not tracked the same way at every outlet.

  2. 02

    Rosters and turnover

Frequent hiring, part-time rosters and shift swaps keep outlet managers on admin when they should be on the floor, and head office lacks a clear staffing picture.

  3. 03

    Delivery platform reliance

Commissions cut into each order, and the customer relationship and data stay with the platform.

  4. 04

    Consistency across outlets

Recipes, pricing, promotions and reporting start to drift once a brand opens its second or third outlet, especially when outlets use different POS systems.

  5. 05

    Reviews and listings

Google reviews, social posts and map listings bring in walk-in customers, but opening hours, menus and details need to stay accurate across every outlet.

03How we help

Where software makes the difference.

  • 01

    Custom software and SaaS

Fasttrade can scope and build a direct ordering platform with loyalty features, and an outlet reporting dashboard that pulls sales and purchase data from your POS and accounts. We would review which POS systems your outlets use and what interfaces they offer before agreeing the scope. BukuOP, available on enquiry, can follow opening and closing tasks and shift handoffs.

  • 02

    Websites and mobile apps

A corporate website can present each outlet or property with current menus, opening hours and maps, and a hotel site can take booking enquiries and pass them to your reservation team or booking engine. A mobile app can handle pickup and delivery orders, payments through a local payment gateway and loyalty rewards.

  • 03

    Buku products

BukuCloud is live and handles invoicing, supplier bills and the P&L, so purchase costs and margins can be reviewed each month. BukuOP, available on enquiry, supports outlet operations. BukuReach, also available on enquiry, can plan promotions. BukuHR is in development and is intended for staff records, leave and approvals across outlets.

05FAQ

Questions we are asked

Can you build our own ordering app so we rely less on delivery platforms?

A direct ordering web app or mobile app can handle menus, pickup and delivery orders, payments and loyalty rewards. Customers still need a reason to switch, so the build works best alongside in-store promotion, social media and incentives for repeat orders. We can build the platform, but we cannot promise how many orders will move across.

We have several outlets. How do we compare their performance?

Start by recording sales, purchases and labour costs the same way at each outlet. BukuCloud produces the P&L, and a custom dashboard can pull from your POS and accounts. Consistent recipes, item codes and pricing in your POS make the comparison meaningful, and we would check what your POS systems can export before scoping.

Can a hotel website connect to our booking engine?

It depends on the booking engine. Many offer a widget, link or API that a website can use, while others do not. We would check what yours supports and agree with your IT and reservations teams whether the website takes enquiries only or passes requests through to the engine.
